Stay: All is not what it seems
Following the events that occurred in 'Stay: The search begins', we find Frank Melton still considering his part in the program. His decision is confounded when he is asked to come back and help the Council by saving a friend who was captured and incapacitated on Tishog.
Soon, Frank finds himself paired with his friend, and sent on further missions to retrieve the remaining components of the original mind control device. However, they find themselves confronted by a more sophisticated and advanced community than they had met with previously.
He also finds himself becoming suspicious of a friend on Earth, who he believes to also be an operative for the Council. But could she be working for the enemy -- Deltrum -- a company also searching to locate the mind control device, for whatever nefarious reasons?
Similarly, Frank and his friend begin to question the Council's intentions regarding the device, yet concrete proof continues to elude them.
Not long after, the pair is given another -- unwanted -- companion in Andrew Southern, someone they had worked with previously under different circumstances. The three men soon find their questioning of the Council increasing, particularly when they discover that the original mind transfer device had been used previously on an unsuspecting religious sect on Earth.
The three decide to travel to Trellin -- in their own bodies, no less -- to gather data they hope would ease their dilemma regarding their 'employers'. However, they encounter a problem far more vexing than they had been prepared for, and find themselves much closer to death than they had ever been before.
