Genesis: Your Journey Home by Terry L. Newbegin

Dreaded Men's Disease Explained

Increases in the human lifespan, in combination with improved screening techniques, have lead to increases in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

For many men, when the diagnosis is made... it's already too late!

Early diagnosis of prostate cancer increases the likelihood of the cancer being eliminated. Medical techniques are constantly improving, and are radically different to those in practice even only ten years ago, so why are so few men getting tested for the disease?

Could it be, by some stretch of the examination, that some men are not willing to let the doctor perform the much-feared DRE -- the digital rectal examination? Since my operation, I have heard quite frequently -- "I'm not going to let someone stick their finger up my bum."

Dreaded Men's Disease Disease Explained

It doesn't make much sense in the end. It's a test that takes only a minute and can save your life. It probably saved mine.

I never thought much about the DRE until I had to have it. I was one of those males who didn't think they needed any health checks because I felt fine. I didn't feel ill. If it wasn't for my wife, and her insistence that I take a health check, I might not have been in the position to be writing this now.

So I wrote an E-book -- Dreaded Men's Disease Explained. It's written in plain language, and describes my journey to discovery. It also briefly details the disease, as well as the techniques that can be used for treatment.

The E-book will cost $10 AUS, and 80% of profits from each sale will go to the charity, 'Kids with Cancer,' while the remaining 20% will go towards maintaining the site, and keeping the book up-to-date.

In fact, I invite you to write and tell me of your experience with prostate cancer -- or even just your thoughts about the disease or the DRE. I promise to include as many responses as possible in future updates of the book to help other males understand our situation, and let them know they're not alone in their thoughts and opinions. You may even find I will include some responses on this page. If I do end up using your story in my book, I'll send you a copy of the updated E-book by e-mail.
