About the Author
Ian Newbegin was born in Melbourne, Australia long before home computers became the norm. Before even the television had weaselled its way into our homes. It was there that he was raised, and there that he, in turn, raised his own family.
With his inquisitive mind, he set to studying, and eventually entered the workforce as a teacher. Although there were a few tangential side projects, he is still growing the minds of our future generation at the time of writing. An eclectic sort, he has taught virtually everything -- from English and Maths (his primary role), through Science and Graphical Design (which is not really his forte).
In later years, he returned to study, where he completed his Ph.D. in Education, with a thesis on Academic Procrastination. It took him a while to get around to it, but he did finally found the time after a few years (I had to make a joke around procrastination).

Married, and with four kids, a good thirty years of his life was taken up by active parenting. Ideas brewed and bubbled about in his cranium. Occasionally, he let an idea take form, but he never got around to some of his more ambitious ideas. They continued to bubble and froth.
Eventually, he started to write his book -- the kids had left home, and he had some time. But he also found out that he had something else -- cancer. This diagnosis, shocking as it was, led him to understand that time was precious, and the ideas that had fermented and primed over the years needed to finally be given the attention they deserved. His treatment was successful, the cancer receded, and he turned to his long-intended pursuits. A Ph.D. on Procrastination, indeed.
A fan of Roy Orbison and Pink Floyd, Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, Lord of the Rings, and Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant series, and a student of martial arts, Ian has quite a number of radically different sources of inspiration. His 'Stay' series was developed over about 15 years, and as a result, the ideas are rich and the characters are real. He has also extended his new love of writing to something more close to home -- and wrote a book on Prostate Cancer, as well as a motivational guide for students. And the ideas continue to bubble...
